Internet Home of the LARC Pistol and Rifle Club

The LARC Pistol and Rifle Club is a multi-discipline shooting club which sponsors a monthly reduced range High Power Rifle match and also shotgun matches, both at local commercial ranges in the greater Los Angeles, California, area.  The club is the lineal descendant of the old Lockheed Employees Recreation Club Pistol and Rifle Club, which was renamed when Lockheed Aircraft left Burbank, California.

The club's primary activity is its monthly High Power Rifle match, held on the first Saturday of the month at the Angeles Shooting Ranges facilities.  The match consists of the traditional National Match Course, 20 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire sitting and 10 shots slow fire standing.   In the months of March, July and November, we have a Service Rifle match consisting of 10 shots slow fire prone, 20 shots prone rapid fire (two 10 shot strings), 20 shots sitting rapid fire (also in two 10 shot strings), and 10 shots slow fire standing.

The match also includes two additional auxiliary matches that are fired in alternating months, a 20 shot rifle silhouette match in odd numbered months (January, March, etc.), and a 30 shot pistol match in even numbered months (February, April, etc.)  These matches are fired after the High Power Rifle match is completed.  Shooters in the rifle match may fire these matches in addition, and shooters may fire only the auxiliary matches if that is their choice.  The sillhouette match is five shots at each of a chicken silhouette, pig, turkey and ram (all on paper instead of being knockdown steel targets.)  The pistol match consists of 10 shots slowfire, two 5 shot strings of timed fire (20 seconds each), and two 5 shot strings of rapid fire (10 seconds each.)  Pistol match rules are slightly customized from official NRA rules.

Match preparation begins at 9 AM and walk-up competitors are welcome.
